  ECN

The Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) is the leading centre for energy research and development in the Netherlands. ECN conducts technology and policy research to find solutions to meeting social needs for energy services in a safe, efficient and clean way. ECN comprises 700 staff, structured into eight business units: Solar Energy; Wind Energy; Biomass; Energy Efficiency; Clean Fossil Fuels; Fuel cells, Renewable Energy in the Built Environment, and Policy Studies.

ECN has been very active in providing solutions to air quality and climate change problems. Its units specialising in renewable energy, clean fossil fuel technologies, fuel cells and industrial and household energy efficiency are all active worldwide. The unit Policy Studies has worked all over Asia in all target countries in both climate change and air quality, as well as in energy planning and poverty reduction. ECN is also very experienced in managing large international projects.

  CEERD

The Centre for Energy Environment Resources Development (CEERD) is part of the Foundation for International Human Resource Development (FIHRD), a Thai Foundation with an international orientation. CEERD conducts Training and Research on energy-environment economics, planning, modeling, policy, markets, and technology in the framework of international cooperation projects to strengthen the capacity of national governments in Asia and the Pacific in energy-environment planning and policy formulation. It provides Information and Knowledge on current issues and developments in energy-environment affecting Asia and the Pacific and other regions in the framework of consultancy projects sponsored by international and national agencies and the private sector and through research published or presented at national, regional and international conferences.

CIEMAT

The Centro de Investigaciones Energeticas, Medioambientales y Tecnologicas (CIEMAT) is a Public Research Agency for excellence in energy and environment, as well as in many vanguard technologies and in various areas of fundamental research. Its mission is to contribute to the sustainable development and the quality of life of its citizens, through the generation and application of scientific and technological knowledge. To favour the process of technology transfer, CIEMAT makes available to the production system, such knowledge and capabilities as may have been developed in the course of its research projects. For this, it signs conventions and collaboration agreements and contracts with companies, and takes out patents, generates products and technologies applicable to society and industry, and publicises them in training courses on matters which are the subject of research and technology development at the Centre.

Its environmental activities covers the field of radiological protection (reduction of radiological impacts, environmental radioactivity measurement quality, personal and environmental dosimetric impact). Special consideration is devoted to storage of high level radioactive waste and spent fuel. Also studies on site characterisation and selection for geological storage of CO2 have begun. Priority subjects of study are identification of the environmental impact on the atmosphere, water and soil from industrial sources and on their surroundings, such as the characterisation and control of polluting emissions into the atmosphere. Scenarios are studied and meteorological and dispersion models are developed and applied to assess the atmospheric environmental impact.

  SDERI

The Energy Research Institute of Shandong Academy of Sciences (SDERI) is a multidisciplinary organization mainly dedicated to R&D in biomass comprehensive utilization and clean energy conversion. The mission of the laboratory is to conduct fundamental, strategic research and innovative technology development for the sustainable energy structure, aiming to benefit the coordinative prosperity of national economy. And one innovative and open-minded intelligent team has been erected, whose research fields cover thermal power, engineering thermophysics, fuel chemistry, chemical engineering, automatic control, etc. In recent years, the institute mainly conducts researches in biomass thermochemical conversion, waste resources utilization, thermal drying, clean alternative fuel production, automatic control of thermal process, as well as environment protection technology. Additionally, the institute has established extensive technological cooperation and information communication with many domestic and abroad universities, companies and institutions.

  SEI

SEI has a long history of regional air pollution in Asia including urban, transboundary air pollution and climate issues. SEI, in collaboration with the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia), has developed a Strategic Framework on AQM in Asia. In addition, it is currently completing the first comprehensive assessment of AQM in 20 Asian cities.

It has experience of working with a range of stakeholders responsible for AQM in the region.

  WINROCK

Winrock International India (WII) is a non-profit organization working in the areas of natural resource management, clean energy and climate change. WII works out of its headquarters in New Delhi and its project offices in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh) , Kawardha (Chhattisgarh) and Bangalore (Karnataka).   Yayasan Pelangi Indonesia

Since its inception on 27 March 1992, Pelangi has concentrated its activities in policy analysis to support sustainable development. Pelangi envisage a community able to organize their lives independently, who maintains the environment and attain social and economic welfare through just and democratic means. Pelangi's mission is to act as an independent research institute with a global reputation and impart knowledge on global environmental issues through applied research, global and local policy advocacy, development of information technology and strengthening its network.

Depending on the issue, Pelangi interacts with its various stakeholders: (a) government, legislative members, and the private sector through advocacy, lobbying and partnership; (b) NGOs through networking and various forums; and (c) the general public through the media.

Pelangi's activities are divided into two main issues: Climate Change & Forestry, and Energy, Air Quality & Transportation. To support interaction and dissemination of its studies, Pelangi also has an Information and Communication division.

As mentioned in its mission, Pelangi's activities are carried out through its ‘three pillars': (a) research/analysis, (b) training and capacity development, and (c) advocacy and outreach.
